For over 34 years, the New Yorkers of The Slackers have been traveling the world with their unique blend of ska, reggae, soul, and rocksteady, acclaimed by both critics and the public. The New York Times even described them as "the sound of New York," a definition that perfectly summarizes their identity: Jamaican rhythms carried by urban energy and a deeply New York character. Since their formation in 1991, The Slackers have built an exceptional career, with 16 studio albums, 5 EPs, and a multitude of singles. Primarily a live band, they have performed thousands of concerts around the world and continue to perform today with the same passion and intensity that have forged their reputation. Their recent news reflects an ever-intact creativity. In 2025, on the Pirates Press Records label, the EP "Money is King," a scathing critique of the powerful as only The Slackers can offer, climbed directly into the Top 25 of the Submodern Reports album chart. Their single "My Last Star" pays tribute to Greg Lee, the singer of the band Hepcat who passed away in 2024, bringing his last artistic vision to life. Still prolific on stage, The Slackers will embark on an international tour in 2026 and will stop in Geneva at the legendary PTR stage for one evening (10 years since their last visit)!
