The Ruins of Beverast is the solo project of German musician Alexander von Meilenwald, also known for his collaborations with several underground scene bands. Founded in 2003 with the demo The Furious Waves of Damnation, followed by the album Unlock the Shrine, the project quickly established a strong identity. Its music develops an atypical progressive black metal, blending ambitious compositions with a deliberately raw production approach. This year, The Ruins of Beverast makes a significant return with Tempelschlaf, a new album released in January, which confirms the uniqueness and power of its universe. The project continues to push the boundaries of black-doom by mixing fury, crushing slowness, and ritual atmospheres. This record extends and evolves the foundations laid by The Thule Grimoires, emphasizing gothic and atmospheric dimensions. In line with major albums like Exuvia, Tempelschlaf offers a natural evolution, balancing fidelity to roots and sonic exploration. Throughout the album, the compositions navigate between burning tensions, massive crescendos, and immersive psychedelic passages.
