"THE ESSENCE OF GYPSY JAZZ" Without grand special effects, they come with their guitars and a double bass and set the house on fire - the Gismo Graf Trio with guest Stochelo Rosenberg. And this time, Gismo's talented sister Cheyenne is also part of the act.
The trio around Gismo Graf, once celebrated as a shooting star of Gypsy Jazz, who has now outgrown the wunderkind status and is considered one of the leading and most innovative Gypsy Jazz guitarists worldwide, presents, together with his father Joschi Graf on rhythm guitar and bassist Joel Locher, briefly – the Gismo Graf Trio – the anniversary program for their 15th anniversary.
"In Spirito Django" – the name says it all.
However, the trio is associated not only with Django Reinhardt’s most famous classics but also with a unique and exciting mix of original compositions, pop, classical, or even rock songs in Gypsy Jazz style. So, seemingly randomly assembled pieces from Sting, Michael Jackson, or piano concertos by Frederic Chopin and film music from Walt Disney movies create such a fitting blend, as if they could indeed have been composed by Django Reinhardt.
Combined with the sharp humor of the three musicians on stage, this creates a unique and entertaining program that catapults Gypsy Jazz directly into the year 2025.
This time, jazz singer Cheyenne, Gismo Graf's talented sister, is also part of the show!
Joining as a guest is the Dutch Stochelo Rosenberg, who has been celebrating success worldwide with his renowned Rosenberg Trio for over 30 years, to present their joint project with Gismo.
In 2017, Stochelo played the soundtrack for the opening film of the Berlinale by Etienne Comar "Django – a life for music". Sold-out shows at Carnegie Hall in New York, Concertgebouw Amsterdam, festivals like North Sea Jazz Festival, The Rose Bowl Los Angeles, Jazz Festival of Montreal, among others, speak for themselves. Collaborations with music greats like Stephane Grappelli, Luciano Pavarotti, Shirley Bassey, Randy Crawford, The Manhattan Transfer, etc., mark his career.
