He started improvising on the piano as a small child.
Markus Becker has remained true to this passion to this day. He has been one of the influential figures in the German piano scene for many years. After studies in Hanover and Paris, his career took him to international stages; numerous CD recordings document his stylistic range between classical core repertoire, rarely performed works, and crossover projects. He is especially appreciated for his extraordinary improvisational ability: with playful ease, he combines classical form with jazzy harmonies, rhythmic finesse, and spontaneous sound fantasy. It is precisely this openness that makes the evening so appealing. The 'Mozart theme' remains deliberately shimmering – alongside original works, perhaps a motif, perhaps a turn, perhaps only a musical thought that serves as a starting point for improvisations. Becker develops new perspectives on familiar pieces from the moment and creates unexpected sound spaces.
