Description
Henja Semmler, Violin Simone von Rahden, Viola Antoaneta Emanuilova, Cello Ludwig van Beethoven
String Trio in E-flat Major, op. 3
Wolfgang Amadé Mozart
String Trio in E-flat Major, KV 563 While KV 563 is considered the pinnacle of string trio literature in the 18th century, Beethoven's op. 3 marked his first significant step to establish himself as a composer in Vienna. Here, he studied and expanded upon the style of his predecessor. Beethoven explicitly modeled his trio on Mozart's masterpiece. Both works are composed in E-flat Major and feature the unusual structure of six movements. Although Beethoven attempted to further develop the genre of the string trio, the concert sequence will show that Mozart's work is a 'piece for eternity.' The passionate chamber musicians Henja Semmler, Simone von Rahden, and Antoaneta Emanuilova share a long-standing friendship and boundless musical curiosity. They have performed together for many years in various ensembles, and their interplay is characterized by familiarity, stylistic diversity, and a lively, multifaceted interpretation. All three are currently teaching at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater Rostock.
