A dizzying poetic performance about the imbalances in today's world
In SymFolie, the circus becomes a place of imbalance, where standards shift and certainties waver. Between dance, acrobatics, and clownish figures, the spectacle depicts a world dominated by (dancing) giants — who do not realize what they are trampling underfoot. At eye level with the audience, everything becomes a game of evasive maneuvers and constant adaptation. Driven by a playful yet threatening scenography, with oversized furniture, floating bodies, and inverted perspectives, the piece subtly explores the power relations and imbalances that reflect our society. Inspired by the absurdity of Mani Matter and the visual worlds of Stan Laurel and Oliver Hardy or Saint-Exupéry, it plays with contrasts between humor and gravity.
