From today's perspective, the years 2017 to 2020 appear as a break in the era – a turning point before the turning point. In Zeilen und Tage IV, Peter Sloterdijk accompanies these years between Trump, Macron, Merkel, and the outbreak of the Corona pandemic as a chronicler and diagnostician of a world in transition. He sheds light on his time diagnoses in a conversation with Svenja Flaßpöhler, who during those years first came into the public eye as an intellectual voice and in her books, among other things, discusses the question of how to find and defend a personal stance in confusing times. Together, the two discuss political and personal boundary shifts, the loss of certainties, and the question of how freedom and agency can be rethought under conditions of profound upheaval. Prof. Dr. Peter Sloterdijk is a philosopher, cultural scientist, and publicist. He taught philosophy and aesthetics at the State University of Design Karlsruhe until 2017. Dr. Svenja Flaßpöhler is a philosopher, author, and chief editor of Philosophie Magazin. Her latest book, Zusammenbleiben. Von der Freiheit fester Bindungen, will be published in September 2026.
