Description
International human rights protection faces a paradox: while regional courts make groundbreaking decisions on issues such as climate justice, the rule of law, and discrimination, human rights institutions are increasingly under pressure due to democratic setbacks and authoritarian tendencies. On the occasion of the 20th anniversary of the African Court on Human and Peoples’ Rights, high-ranking representatives of international and national courts will discuss the future of regional human rights protection, the dialogue between courts, and how to deal with growing political pressure: Dr. Blaise Tchikaya, President of the African Court on Human and Peoples’ Rights
Prof. Dr. Ann-Katrin Kaufhold, Vice President of the Federal Constitutional Court
Prof. Dr. Anja Seibert-Fohr, Judge at the European Court of Human Rights
Welcome: Prof. Dr. Helmut Philipp Aust, Director at the MPIL
