Cordt Winkler was in his early twenties when the diagnosis of paranoid schizophrenia fundamentally changed his life. Symptoms he had observed in his father as a child now also appeared in him: the slipping of thoughts and perceptions, panic attacks, paranoia, and hospital stays. He openly and vividly describes the dynamics of a psychotic crisis and provides insight into a world of experience that is hardly comprehensible to many outsiders. His book I am sometimes someone else makes visible the challenges that the illness brings for those affected and their relatives, and at the same time shows that a good life with schizophrenia is possible. Cordt Winkler, born in 1980 near the Dutch border, studied media studies and works in a trend research agency. He lives in Berlin.
