Description
With the camera to the true wonders of the world – and to oneself. For many years, filmmaker and photographer Dennis Schmelz has been traveling around the world. He searches for stories that touch and moments that last. His camera takes him to the most remote corners of the Earth – from the ice deserts of Antarctica through the jungles of the Amazon to the Galungan Festival in Bali.
In his impressive live lecture, parallel to the release of his National Geographic photo book Moments, Dennis Schmelz takes you on a journey through the highlights of his work. He shares how he threw his fears overboard in the notorious Drake Passage, how he experienced his first culture shock in India and found a new perspective on life and death in Varanasi. His search for happiness in Bhutan and encounters with people around the world are also part of this moving expedition.
Accompanied by award-winning films and photographs, the acclaimed photographer and filmmaker provides insights behind the scenes of his work and openly discusses the challenges of traveling and filmmaking – about cold, loneliness, and doubt, but also about the unforgettable moments that keep him going. A moving and fascinating lecture about curiosity, courage, and the beauty that arises when you view the world with open eyes.
