Description

This film follows Lena, a cheerful student, who takes on a job as a writing therapist in a rehabilitation program, working with the misanthropic alcoholic Hugo Drowak. As Lena uncovers Drowak's literary talent, memories and past traumas resurface, challenging both characters. The Swiss director Nicolas Steiner crafts a film that oscillates between hope and grotesque human depths, set in a meticulously designed surreal present contrasted with warm-colored flashbacks from the past. The film's striking black-and-white visuals and award-winning cinematography create a dystopian yet intimate universe.
