Castle Hike

Description

On Sunday, October 4, 2026, the 11th Swiss Castle Day will take place under the motto "Travel". No mode of transportation fits better than the oldest of all: walking.
Castle Sargans and Castle Werdenberg invite you to a joint hike on the historic castle trail. The start is at 9:30 AM in the castle courtyard of Castle Sargans, at the same time a second group departs from Castle Werdenberg. Around 12 PM, the two groups will meet for a joint picnic at Magletsch. Participants are responsible for their own food.
The approximately 18-kilometer, well-marked trail (category T1, without difficult sections) leads from Sargans over the Schollberg with wide views into the Rhine Valley, further via Azmoos to Gretschins, through sunny forests and meadows with views of the Alvier and Liechtenstein. At the end, the idyllic town of Werdenberg awaits as the destination of the trip.
