Carla Hohmeister: "Gesichtspunkte" at Sargans Castle

Description

Using everyday materials such as yarn, wool, nets, paint, and wood, the artist creates portraits that appear as individual color surfaces up close and from a distance come together to form a face – analog material that becomes a “digital” image made of pixels. The title is programmatic: A viewpoint is both perspective and standpoint, and as one moves through the space, their way of seeing changes with every step. The works are shown in a place that is itself a work of art: The attic with its larch roof structure from 1506 is an impressive testimony to late medieval carpentry art.
