In Näfels, the traditional Chlaus procession with the accompanying Chlaus market takes place every 1st Advent Sunday, attracting numerous visitors from the surrounding villages each year. Promptly at 6:00 PM, Samichlaus and his dear Schmutzlis are welcomed in Niederberg with Christmas songs by the schoolchildren from Näfels. After a brief greeting, Samichlaus is driven through the village on a festively decorated carriage, accompanied by countless bell ringers and around 350 children with self-made lanterns. The village center of Näfels transforms into a stage that offers a cozy and festive atmosphere on this evening.

The Chlaus procession is framed by the simultaneously held Chlaus market. With around 15 stall operators, regional products are offered in a festive setting. The St. Nicholas action also ensures physical well-being. In addition to delicious sausages, there is also raclette bread, which delights visitors culinarily. Another highlight is the performance of the tower brass players, who accompany the event with Christmas sounds.
