Description
Who doesn't know the tragic story of Romeo and Juliet? The two young lovers from feuding families marry despite the hatred, but their love ends fatally due to misunderstandings, violence, and unfortunate circumstances. Only their death leads to the reconciliation of the families.
This drama for twelve dancers – six men and six women – embraces the intensity of Shakespeare's masterpiece. Director Asun Noales approaches the conflict from various perspectives – the body, technique, and emotion. In search of a dance that tells the truth without hiding behind movement but becoming movement itself, the work unfolds a choreographic language that encompasses the complexity and contrasts of the story and its characters. The attraction and pure love between the protagonists overcome deep-seated hatred and entrenched conflicts, defeat revenge, and place flesh, passion, and longing at the center of the narrative. Under the direction of chief conductor Josep Vicent, the argovia philharmonic performs the production together with the Spanish ballet company OtraDanza.
