Rock Poetry – The Beatles - Udo Dahmen & Maik Brüggemeyer

Description

"Words are flowing out like endless rain into a paper cup" – Song lyrics or poetry? Both! The songs of the Beatles, one of the most influential bands of all time, tell of love, dreams, loss, and society – lyrically, socially critical, and not just musically masterful, as most of their worldwide hits are actually set to music of great poetic texts.
After exciting events about the lyrics of Bob Dylan, Tom Waits, or David Bowie, the focus this evening is on the four Britons who changed the world with their sound. Professor Udo Dahmen, long-time head of the Baden-Württemberg Pop Academy, and music journalist and author Maik Brüggemeyer will discuss the Beatles' lyrics – of course including many musical examples.
