Description

It is a bold undertaking that the Ringmasters are planning for this concert evening: a journey through the entire history of vocal music from the Renaissance to the present day. The four singers are classically trained and also familiar with more modern singing styles, and they became Barbershop World Champions in 2012. The stylistic jumps are therefore easy for them. They choose the beginnings of the 16th century, represented by Josquin des Prez or Jacques Arcadelt, as their starting point. Subsequently, they encounter Franz Schubert, Anton Bruckner, and Francis Poulenc, who were influential in their time thanks in part to their song and choir compositions. After a detour into the Swedish choral tradition, from which the Ringmasters originally emerged, the music of the 20th century forms the conclusion. The program features songs by great names such as Freddie Mercury, Billy Joel, and Paul McCartney, bringing the concise overview to a lively end.
