Piotr Anderszewski's recital focuses on two poles of late Romanticism and late Classicism: Brahms and Beethoven. The Klavierstücke op. 118 and 119, composed in 1892 and 1893, are among Brahms's last pages for piano. They condense a world of inner emotion, where each Intermezzo seems to suspend time and each accent appears loaded with memory. The Fantasies op. 116 extend this vein, between caprice, meditation, and free form. Beethoven's Piano Sonata No. 32 in C minor, op. 111, his last piano sonata completed in 1822, stands as a boundary work, both austere and visionary. Piotr Anderszewski, known for his programs built as inner trajectories, for his very personal approach to form, and for his pursuit of a sound of great sobriety, is the ideal performer for this repertoire.
