Description
The Ittinger Carthusian Josephus Wech (1702–1761) left behind an impressive written work. He was active early in administration and eventually held the position of Procurator, meaning he was the monk responsible for the economy. Among his administrative manuals, one work stands out in particular: the property map dated 1745 with dimensions of approximately 3.2 × 5 meters. This monumental masterpiece of cartography is being shown publicly for the first time in the exhibition. In the one-hour tour with curator Dr. Felix Ackermann, you will learn more about the temporal context of the map and the diverse activities of Father Procurator Josephus Wech in monastic administration.
