Description
Sesshin are multi-day, intensive practice periods of Zen meditation (Zazen). During this time, one becomes quieter day by day and the experiences deepen. This also creates greater freedom from everyday habits, beliefs, and structures. Literally, Sesshin means "to be in contact with the heart-mind." The Sesshin leads from outside to inside, from doing to being, and from knowing to realizing. A deeper relationship to oneself does not mean the "I" with which we normally identify, but the living being that we are by nature. In silent sitting, the deep ground of all being and one's own essence is revealed.
