Description
For 15 years, former SZ editor Judith Raupp has been living as a reporter in Goma in the Democratic Republic of Congo at the border with Rwanda. It is a region that often only becomes visible when violence escalates. Raupp writes from her everyday life: about weddings and funerals, government offices and prisons, secret service interrogations, war, and the devastating Ebola epidemic – but also about friendship and ingenuity. "Tomorrow I will go shopping, if the market is still standing. Life and survival in Congo" (C. H. Beck) is the politically conscious portrait of eastern Congo, which does not declare its people mere extras of their hardship. Raupp's perspective remains, even as the headlines move on.
