Description
Moby Dick or the Whale A journey through the novel by Herman Melville. It is the story of a legendary white whale and its hunter Captain Ahab, driven by boundless hatred. When published in 1851, it was little noticed, but today Herman Melville's novel Moby Dick is celebrated as a postmodern masterpiece of the century. Inspired by the Old Testament, Shakespeare, and historical and zoological works, Herman Melville attempts to explain the world, God, humans, and nature—and how everything is interconnected. The nearly thousand-page travelogue recounts mighty adventures at sea, as well as journeys into the depths of human souls and destiny landscapes. The collective Candlelight Dynamite transforms world literature into a theatrical-musical panorama about the relationship between humans and animals with lovingly crafted objects and much stage poetry. In the new season, x-change, the exchange with the Freiburg Theatre, continues. From Bern, Tilmann Köhler's production Ewige Sonne, based on the novels by Charles Ferdinand Ramuz, will travel to Breisgau. A production of the Freiburg Theatre / co-production with the Bremen Theatre.Highlights
