Description
Contrary to the widespread legend of the ‘apolitical poet‘, Hermann Hesse attentively followed current political events with a keen sense for future developments. He warned against National Socialism as early as the 1920s and recognized its systematic war preparations in the 1930s earlier than many of his fellow writers. Hermann Hesse's resistance to current politics and the zeitgeist can be precisely traced today in his over 800 pages of political writings. In countless letters, reports, and newspaper articles, he clearly expressed his stance on the volatile political issues of his time, whether during the Weimar Republic, the emerging revisionism, during National Socialism, or during and after the Second World War.
The actors Graziella Rossi and Helmut Vogel, together with Volker Michels and Silver Hesse, present the original texts compiled by them in an engaging and concise manner. Els Biesemans accompanies on the piano.
