Conrad Ferdinand Meyer

Description

The poet C. F. Meyer (1825–1898) lived in the house for more than twenty years. Many of his unique novellas and poems were created here in Kilchberg. His study, bequeathed to the Central Library Zurich by his daughter Camilla, is preserved with original furniture and library.

An exhibition shows Meyer's life and work. The biographical section presents and portrays Conrad's family environment. A true "retrospective" recalls his epic and lyrical oeuvre, but also repeatedly illustrates the poet's personality: in photos, in portraits, as a letter writer, with original objects from his everyday life or – finally – in the death mask.
