Description
Luna Mahoux is a Belgian artist, filmmaker, and curator. She completed her painting studies at La Cambre in Brussels and then studied at Le Fresnoy – Studio national des arts contemporains. There, she realized her first documentary short film, The Other Queen of Memphis, which explores the legacy of rap among Black women in Memphis. The film premiered at Cinéma du Réel (Centre Pompidou) and was also shown at Bourse de Commerce, Arsenic (Carte Blanche), Gessnerallee in Zurich, Forde in Geneva, and at The Metrograph cinema in New York. In 2024, she received two awards for photography and film in Belgium. In addition to her artistic practice, Luna is also active as a DJ and producer, performing on Rinse FM, Kiosk Radio, and Ola Radio. In her work, she connects archives, memory, and Afro-diasporic communities, creating immersive narratives where image, sound, and culture merge.
