In the world of violin, she is like a chess world champion, always several moves ahead of the best. The two violin-playing entertainers lead a large audience to classical music with humor – and have already managed to inspire Hahn to spectacular actions. This reveals a lot about this world star without pretensions, whose joy of playing is as limitless as her ability to communicate music directly – whether in concert, in conversation, or on recordings. Hahn once said about her recordings that there can never be a final word, only snapshots from a life as an interpreter in each new musical partnership. This attitude also shapes her performances. Every evening is unique, every piece always new to tell. That’s why it’s no surprise that Hahn includes a frequently performed masterpiece like Felix Mendelssohn’s Violin Concerto in her program: even after decades of engagement, it remains adaptable, open, and lively. The violinist has a long-standing collaboration with Vladimir Jurowski. Jurowski is still connected to the orchestra he led for 15 years as Conductor Emeritus. At the Albert concerts, Mendelssohn’s lyrical solo concerto is performed alongside music by Richard Wagner and Anton Bruckner – two contemporaries whose sound worlds subtly touch in the 7th Symphony.
