Kalmann is a lovable eccentric in the village of Raufarhöfn high in the rugged north of Iceland. This arouses desires, and Kalmann is soon in the middle of an opaque game. Joachim B. Schmidt, born in 1981, raised in the Swiss canton of Graubünden, emigrated to Iceland in 2007. His novels, including 'Kalmann' and 'Tell', are bestsellers and have won numerous awards, including the Crime Cologne Award and most recently the Glauser Prize. The dual citizen lives with his wife and two children in Reykjavík.
