Description

Around them, the lives of the employees and the narrator's family unfold. At the center is the mother, who passionately devotes herself to the guests while her marriage falls apart. Along the individual tables, Caroline Roger tells stories with delicate humor and a gift for precise observation, dealing with the absurdity of everyday life, intimacy, and estrangement, while asking the question: How does belonging arise and how do you recognize family?

Caroline Roger, born in 1969 in Vevey, studied art history, history, and philosophy. The PhD art historian researches body images, image discourses about aging, and female artists. She writes in German and French; 'Unter Gästen' is her literary debut. Caroline Roger lives in Freiburg.
