Description
The goal of a seed bank is to preserve the genetic diversity of threatened species in nature and to make stored seeds available to support them in their natural environment. But what happens if seeds remain in the freezer for too long and do not change, while the outside world undergoes radical transformations due to climate change? Will these seeds still be able to survive in nature? What could they still be used for? Come learn more with our scientist Andreas Ensslin about the current state of research on this question and how scientists at the Geneva Botanical Garden are managing this issue. This visit is part of the climate week program.
