Description

With Löwenmut – As "one of the very best quartets: balanced, colorful, and original," Alfred Brendel honored the Leonkoro Quartet, founded in Berlin in 2019. The ensemble does justice to its name, derived from the Esperanto term "Löwenherz" (lionheart): it plays with "the spirit of immediate freshness and fearlessness" (Süddeutsche Zeitung) and "has enormous stage presence, burns for music, takes full risks, and surprises with empathy for the respective sound qualities of the pieces" (Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung). After a tour season that took the Leonkoro Quartet from North America through Australia to Japan, the winners of the "BBC Young Generation Artist" are performing at the Albert Concerts for the first time – with a program exploring the most diverse shades of minor in three works.
