Description
It was Friday, December 31st, and I still had something to do. So everything." This shocking realization shakes Lars, the undiscovered writer, who sits alone in his single-family house in drizzle rain, waiting for his wife and children to return. Because it looks like in a house, "where someone lives and no one cleans." Lars immediately starts a to-do list, where "gutter" is right next to "life's work" and the demands of everyday life are as urgent as questions about the meaning of life. Whether it's washing dishes, filing taxes, career, or wife Johanna – Lars postpones everything and realizes: It is a misconception that one can organize reality. Life is an inadequate attempt to tame chaos. So first, have a smoke and postpone the rest. In Nele Pollatschek's new novel, the small problems of life reveal a philosophical dimension. Ensemble member Christian Baumbach shows in his solo, above all, how tragicomically failure at the trivialities of everyday life is. Wrapping gifts, picking up the daughter from riding stables, preparing a pasta salad, setting up a bed – the more to-dos accumulate, the more panicked and crazy Lars becomes. How much easier it would be if one could simply detach from oneself! But since one cannot run away from one's own life, Lars tries to make peace, with his list and thus also with himself.
