Description

The national traveling exhibition sheds light on the Swiss history of welfare-related coercive measures and outplacements and their processing, bringing it to all regions of the country.

The exhibition offers a multi-voiced and scientifically grounded approach to this chapter of Swiss history, which has strongly shaped the lives of many people.

Visitors encounter personal life stories of those affected and gain insight into the long path of political processing. They learn how welfare-related coercive measures came about and what consequences they still have today. They are also invited to ask themselves: Can past injustices be made right? And what can we do to ensure this history does not repeat itself?

The traveling exhibition will be hosted in Lausanne until March 2026. From May 13 to October 23, 2026, it will be shown in Lucerne, followed by Schaffhausen, Bellinzona, and Bern.

The traveling exhibition was realized by Expositionen (curation: Detlef Vögeli) and ZMIK (scenography) on behalf of the Federal Office of Justice. It is part of the program Remembering for Tomorrow.

Please note: This exhibition contains content that may be distressing to visitors. This includes topics such as violence, discrimination, and human suffering. The visit is recommended from 12 years of age.
