1 Room, 1 Work. Installations from the Collection

Description

This year's collection exhibition is dedicated to grand artistic gestures: one work occupies a room. These are not small-format works, but room-filling installations. Installation art goes beyond the pictorial or sculptural character of a work and usually involves the entire space. This creates its own artistic universe. Often, the audience is actively involved in viewing and experiencing the work. The main focus is on contemporary art, with acquisitions from the 1990s to the present on display. A highlight of the exhibition is the immersive spatial work «Wantee» (2013) by Laure Provoust, in which the artist weaves fiction, art history, and personal history together. To show as many installations from the collection as possible, works are dismantled and replaced by others during the exhibition.
