PĚT ŠVESTEK What if a person discovers that it's never too late for great adventures? This is exactly what the new Czech comedy Pět švestek tells, offering humor, emotion, and a reminder that the desire to live and enjoy life knows no age limits. Věra lives alone and feels that nothing significant awaits her in life anymore. However, she begins to reminisce about the time when she was truly happy – about trips to the sea with friends. Although the old gang is no longer what it used to be, and each member carries their own life story and old grievances, they decide to set sail together one more time towards the sea, adventures, idyllic bays, and sunsets. Soon, it becomes clear that the biggest complications will not come from the sea itself or the past, which begins to surface during the voyage. The greatest obstacle turns out to be their own children, who have little understanding for their parents' crazy trip. The film Pět švestek, directed by Jan Svěrák, features a fantastic cast. The main roles are played by Lenka Termerová, Oldřich Kaiser, Petr Kostka, Dana Syslová, and Jan Vlasák. The result is a playful yet touching comedy about friendship, love, forgiveness, and the courage to step out of the beaten path.
