Kim Salmon (*1957, Perth, Western Australia) is often regarded in music history as one of the godfathers of garage rock and grunge. Throughout his nearly fifty-year career, he has significantly influenced both the Australian and global alternative scenes; he has been revered as an idol by bands such as Sonic Youth, Mudhoney, Nirvana, and Jon Spencer Blues Explosion. Since the late 1970s, his name has been associated with projects like The Scientists, The Beasts of Bourbon, Kim Salmon & The Surrealists, and Smoked Salmon. Currently, his main focus is the project Smoked Salmon. This is not a permanent band in the traditional sense, but a conceptual music collective operating on the principle of geographical branches. The project aims to connect brand new original material with new interpretations of songs from Salmon's entire catalog – from The Scientists to The Beasts of Bourbon to The Surrealists. In 2025, this project released its eponymous debut with the independent label Cheersquad Records & Tapes, followed this year by the fresh album Totally Sick!! (2026). Smoked Salmon thus functions as a living organism, effortlessly linking the entire history of the Australian guitar underground with a fresh original handwriting. The co-headliner of the evening will be the Czech legend Rány těla, with support from Thee Lazy Eyes.
