Description
A violin recital with the native Tuttlingen Johannes Ascher (violin) and Leon Wenzel at the piano featuring works by Ludwig van Beethoven, Max Reger, and Karol Szymanowski. The program title "To the Immortal Beloved" refers to a letter written in 1812 with the same name by Ludwig van Beethoven to an anonymous addressee. The centerpiece of the program is Beethoven's Violin Sonata No. 10 Op. 96, which was composed around the same time as the letter. In contrast, Beethoven's only song cycle "To the Faint Hearted Beloved" Op. 98 will be performed. The theme of love is reflected in between with two rather untypical romances by Max Reger and Karol Szymanowski, which impress with their depth. Johannes Ascher and his duet partner Leon Wenzel studied at the Hochschule für Musik Hanns Eisler Berlin. Both musicians, winners of the First Federal Prize with the highest score at the "Jugend Musiziert" competition, winners of international competitions, and scholarship holders of the German Foundation for Music Life, met at their shared place of study in Berlin and have been performing as a duo since 2019.
