HERMANOS GUTIÉRREZ Two guitars, a dreamy cosmos, and a thousand landscapes: the Gutiérrez brothers, born between Zurich and Ecuador, make the desert sing like no one else. Two men, two guitars — and yet everything is there. Alejandro and Estevan Gutiérrez, sons of a Swiss father and an Ecuadorian mother, grew up in Zurich while seeking their musical soul in Playas, on Ecuador's Pacific coast. From this dual heritage, a unique instrumental sound was born, somewhere between the arid vastness of an imaginary wild West and the nostalgia of 1960s Italian cinema — Morricone in the background, Latin rhythms as a foundation. Their album El Bueno y el Malo, recorded under the guidance of Dan Auerbach of the Black Keys, propels them onto the international stage and earns them a Grammy nomination. Sonido Cósmico (2024) confirms their trajectory.
