Description
From January 31, 2026, the Museum Grenchen presents a new part of its permanent exhibition: the Grenchäologie. The coined word combines "Grenchen" and "archaeology" – and that's exactly what it's about: archaeological finds from Grenchen and the surrounding area that provide exciting insights into the past. The exhibition takes visitors on a journey through time from prehistory from 10,000 BC through the Roman era to the world of knights around 1300. Each find tells a story about the people who lived, worked, and left their marks here. Archaeology as detective work Excavations are just the beginning. Only the careful analysis of the find context, materials, and clues creates a clear picture of the past. Archaeologists work like detectives, logically putting together puzzle pieces to reveal new insights. Anyone who wants to know what "Grenchäologie" reveals about life in Grenchen during the Roman era and beyond should not miss a visit to the new permanent exhibition. Opening hours: Wednesday, Saturday, and Sunday, 2–5 pm An exhibition by the Cantonal Archaeology Solothurn for Grenchen
