Description
Eli Equagoo (*2000) lives and works in Solothurn. His artistic practice ranges between painting, multimedia, and installation, developed both in collective and individual processes. The focus is on engaging with memories, personal experiences, and past events. Recurring themes in his work include the colonial context and the living worlds of his ancestors in relation to his second homeland, Togo. Equagoo seeks ways to continually question and shape reality and identity. Inspired early on by his father, artist Joel Equagoo, he now develops his own independent artistic language. In 2023 and 2024, his works were exhibited at the Cantonal Annual Exhibitions in Solothurn and Olten. The series "20m2 – Window into the Studio of ..." offers the Kunsthaus Grenchen a platform for young artists from the canton of Solothurn to showcase their works in a museum setting. The exhibitions are held concurrently with other presentations in the Marti-Schenk Cabinet of Villa Girard.
