Description
The core of conservatism is preservation: preserving order, customs, tradition, and values. Nevertheless, conservative politicians have repeatedly proven themselves as reformers or preservers of renewal and thus as key figures in times of upheaval. But today, center-right parties seem torn between an alliance with reactionary forces and a clear commitment to liberal, open society. Roger de Weck advocates in his new book for a political self-assurance of conservatives to once again become guarantors of stability. At SQUARE, the HSG alumnus and advisory board member of the St. Gallen Collegium discusses the past and future of conservatism with two researchers who study it in depth: PD Dr. Martin Beckstein and Dr. Eno Trimçev, fellows at the St. Gallen Collegium. The conversation is moderated by Prof. Claudia Brühwiler.
