Description
Almost exactly two years ago, Brazilian violinist Guido Sant’Anna already thrilled the audience in Lörrach. Now he returns, alongside the most exciting young pianist of today: Giorgi Gigashvili. Together, they dedicate themselves to the violin sonatas of César Franck and Karol Szymanowski. Both composers turned to this genre only once in their work – with remarkable success. Franck's sonata, written for the 'King of the Violin' Eugène Ysaÿe, with its cyclical structure and devilishly difficult piano part, is sometimes even called one of the best violin sonatas ever composed. The young Pole Karol Szymanowski was also likely of this opinion, as he raved about the piece and based his composition on it. And as if these two monuments were not enough, Sant’Anna seeks another challenge in between: Maurice Ravel's 'Tzigane', which is unmatched in its opening statement. Program: R. Schumann, Drei Romanzen für Violine und Klavier, op. 94 / C. Franck, Sonate für Violine und Klavier a-Moll, FWV 8 / M. Ravel, Tzigane für Violine und Klavier, M.76 / K. Szymanowski, Sonate für Violine und Klavier d-Moll, op. 9
