Gandwald near Elm - Guided Hike

Description

The hike through the Gandwald nature forest reserve provides insight into a rare Turinermeister maple forest in Switzerland. Nature forest reserves are of great importance for biodiversity and today's understanding of forests. The Gandwald grows on northern Helvetic flysch, a key element of Glarus geology. With a view of the Tschingelhörner, the GeoGuide will then explain the Glarus main thrust and the formation of the legendary Martinsloch. The rockslide of September 11, 1881, recalls the former desirability of Glarus slate. Before arriving at the Ämpächli mountain restaurant, there is an opportunity to immerse yourself in the giant forest – an entertaining course for young and old. The descent is comfortably done by gondola or for the sporty by scooter.
