Florence Gaub is one of Europe's most prominent futurists. She analyzes how our image of the future shapes our actions in the present – and what new possibilities arise when we leave behind familiar patterns of thought. In an inspiring lecture followed by a discussion, the focus is on the boundaries that shape our present and those we need to transcend in our thinking. How do crises change our view of tomorrow? Where do new opportunities emerge when familiar certainties end? And how can scenarios help us stay capable of action in times of uncertainty and upheaval? Dr. Florence Gaub is a political scientist, military strategist, and futurist, serving as the director of the research department at NATO Defense College in Rome. In this role, she advises governments and international organizations based on future scenarios and trend analyses. Her latest book, "Scenario. The Future is at Stake" (2025), provides geostrategic insights and shows that historical fatalism is not appropriate. Moderation: Dr. Lena Jöhnk, Director of DAI.
