She examines two competing models of freedom of speech: one defending free speech as a central democratic principle, and the other emphasizing protection from harm and exclusion. She explores how liberal societies handle these tensions and what this means for public debates and our coexistence. Prof. Dr. Eva Illouz researches and teaches at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem on emotions, capitalism, culture, communication, and cultural aspects of their intersections.
