When landscape becomes mood and a moment begins to shine on paper, we encounter the special visual world of Ekaterina Chernetskaya. Born in Moscow in 1978, the artist combines the precision of her architectural background with an exceptionally fine eye for nature, animals, people, and the small stories of everyday life. After studying at the Moscow Institute of Architecture, she worked as an architect and drawing teacher. Since 2003, she has regularly exhibited her works in Europe and the USA. Her works are now part of private collections in Switzerland, Rome, Paris, London, and New York. Chernetskaya has been closely connected to the Glarus region for many years. The landscape around Glarus and Ennenda repeatedly finds its way into her artistic work. It is not about a purely naturalistic depiction: familiar motifs are transformed, condensed, and sometimes slightly surreal through her gaze — so that landscapes and everyday scenes almost appear as memories or photographs from another world. In her new exhibition, Ekaterina Chernetskaya shows current watercolors — works full of light, atmosphere, and fine observations. Watercolor allows her to play with transparency, color, and the white of the paper. Between delicate tones and precise details, images emerge that are both still and lively, inviting the viewer to look more closely.
