Description
A beautiful creation could emerge from the new cemetery - such potential is rare! During a tour through the Feld-Quartier and the cemetery grounds, we encounter many exciting situations, rare trees, and curious phenomena. Together with City Councilor Christine Walter Walder from the Department of Safety + Sports, we experience an area in transition with great development potential. Starting from the bus stop at Friedhof on Ettenhauserstrasse, we first pass through the settlement "Chinesische Mauer" and then reach the cemetery grounds via Spitalstrasse. Here, the natural cycle of Becoming - Being - Passing will occupy us on various levels. Not only humans, but all other earthly phenomena are subject to this natural law, including the seemingly eternal three- and four-thousanders on the horizon or the "eternal" ice of our glaciers. Landscape architect Uwe Scheibler presents a special tree portrait at the large, now hundred-year-old elm. The cemetery, expanded for over 6 million francs, is still in transition, and various elements and changes will surely spark lively discussions. The different perspectives from southwest, north, south, and east leave plenty of room for new development opportunities for a truly unique urban open space. The adjacent area of the Holy Spirit Church also offers exciting situations in dealing with urban greenery, and comparisons between very different maintenance concepts can be drawn. The event lasts from 2 pm to 4 pm and is, as always, free of charge with a voluntary collection. Afterwards, we gather for a cozy conclusion at Restaurant Feld (Langfurrenstrasse 2).
