Description

A lone body facing a drifting world: Dévolution traces, through a physical and inhabited dance, the transformation of humans from their original nature to contemporary alienation.
For its first creation at Nuithonie, David Labanca deploys an intense choreographic solo. The performer questions human evolution: from an animal origin, connected to nature, to a form of alienation shaped by industry, technology, and excess. Between floorwork, acro dance, and movement theater, the body becomes narration. Crawling, falling, straightening up, it undergoes a metamorphosis where a figure, both fragile and grotesque, takes shape. In this physical writing supported by original music by Dario Miranda and a hypnotic lighting play, the dance offers a critique of our era while opening a poetic space. Without succumbing to pessimism, Dévolution questions what we become — and what remains to be preserved.
