Conducted by: Markus Eichenlaub On the traditional concert date of the Cappella Palatina for All Saints' Day, Johannes Brahms' Requiem will be performed on November 1, 2026, at 7 p.m. in the Jesuit Church. As one of the most significant sacred musical works of Romanticism, it is intentionally designed as a counterpoint to the traditional Latin Requiem, with the libretto compiled from verses of the Bible in the Luther translation. The seven movements, symmetrically arranged around the words “Wie lieblich sind deine Wohnungen” of the fourth movement, particularly focus on the perspective of the mourners, to whom the work’s opening words “Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted” aim to bring solace through the musical setting of biblical words.
Together with Cappella Palatina, Concerto Camerata, Elena Harsányi (Soprano), and Matthias Horn (Baritone) will perform in the first All Saints' Day concert under the direction of Markus Eichenlaub, district cantor at the Jesuit Church Heidelberg. Ticket sales open on September 22, 2026. Additional information:
