Three musicians, more than twenty instruments, and an idea of jazz that is constantly evolving: David Helbock's Random/Control has been one of the most independent formations between composition and experiment for years. For its 15th anniversary, the trio presents a new program and expands its soundscape with a voice. Filippa Gojo brings singing into this finely balanced structure. Poems by William Blake, Emily Dickinson, or Erich Fried are integrated into the musical flow. Helbock on piano, Johannes Bär on brass, drums, and beatbox, Andreas Broger on woodwinds and more – everyone switches effortlessly between roles and instruments. What emerges is an open system where structures form and shift again. The new album, recorded in 2025 during a session at the legendary Liechtenstein Little Big Beat Studio, captures this energy perfectly.
