Description

Friedrich Dürrenmatt develops a sophisticated construct of justice, moral dilemmas, and the reversal of victim and perpetrator in his famous, multiple times adapted "Requiem for a Crime Novel." In the forest near Mägendorf, the body of little Gritli Moser is found. Commissioner Matthäi, who has already been transferred to Jordan and has only a few days left in office, promises the girl's mother to catch the murderer. Shortly thereafter, the only suspect confesses the crime—somewhat involuntarily—and commits suicide. The case seems closed. Not for Matthäi. Obsessed with tracking down a repeat offender, he devises a dubious plan. He takes over a gas station as a tenant and sets a trap for the unknown murderer. The daughter of his housekeeper serves as bait. And indeed, it seems that little Annemarie Heller has encountered a mysterious wizard who gives her a hedgehog.
